Monika is 11 years old and is studying in 4th standard in A.K.M.Jubilee English Medium School, Visakhapatnam. Her father name is Srinivas and mother name is Jagadhamba. She has one elder sister and one younger sister studying in the same school. Monika’s father is working as electrician in port. Monika’s father had to borrow considerable amounts towards his father’s cancer treatment and his sister’s marriage. His father however died. Monika’s father got mental breakdown and has to take break from his work. This has worsened the financial situation of the family. Monika and her younger sister have to stop going to school for 2 years because the family was in position to send the children to the school.

Monika’s father slowly improved his health and they started sending the children back to school. However the financial problems still exist. Monika school fee for the academic year was not paid because of low family income and debt. Kidpower paid the education fee of Rs 3,000 in the month of March 2010 and also was provided with education material (school uniform, school bag, books, compass box, etc.). She will be able to attend the school now.
